Inuisitor Free read ê E-book, or Kindle E-pub Read Ì E-book, or Kindle E-pub ´ G.J. Reilly Nuisitor is a thought provoking mixture of history and legend in a twist on the modern world Its gentle humour and dark scenes will appeal to readers of all ages but especially to those looking for somewhere to escape. Any book about a young boy going off to a special school with a bit of magic will inevitably be compared to Harry Potter I ve not read the HP books but have seen the films and this is nothing like themThe young main character Michael wins a rare scholarship along with a friend from school Michael is 12 and I was picturing my nephew who is clever and just turned 13 but Michael seemed older especially as he has to learn things such as his special powers and also uite serious fighting There are two enemies that want to get rid of each other but which side is good and which side is evilEven though I m not the target audience I enjoyed this story It kept me gripped and interested and entertained More importantly it left me wondering who really was the hero of the story Although titled as Part 1 this is definitely a stand alone with a satisfying conclusion whilst setting things up for further stories

Reilly Lder Council and the psychics of the Inuisition When Michael leaves home for the exclusive Braxton Academy he discovers that the truth depends on your point of view and that comfort and opulence come at a heavy price I. Any story of an eleven year old boy which takes place in a boarding school where children with special powers learn how to use their gifts is inevitably going to invite comparisons Don t do it Read this on its own merits Michael s uncle died when he was born leaving him an old locked book in his grandmother s safe keeping Michael was the first baby born in the new millennium a fact of significance There are two secret groups here the group which runs the school searching for its new Grand Inuisitor and another called the Elder Council Michael has been taught to distrust the Council but should he Who is telling him the truthThis story s strengths are that Michael is a believable character and is faced with puzzles and trials both physical and mental which test his mettle Nothing comes easily to him and though we are willing him on we don t know who he can trust either He is faced with a great conflict which sees him fighting his best friend I felt that sometimes his and others feelings were a little adult for children of that age but the story carried me along with it I m pleased to say that this is the first of a series I m sure I ll read the others

This book started a little slowly for me but I really enjoyed the writing style and that was enough to carry me into the meat of the story where it got really addictive Another reviewer has already mentioned the inevitable inclination to liken this novel to Harry Potter and as that reviewer has said such a comparison would be a mistake For me if any comparison were to be drawn it would be with Pullman s His Dark Materials primarily for its on going conflict between two governing bodies and the interweaving intrigue for the reader who does not know which side they should be rooting forAt the beginning of the book the main characters are on the cusp of progressing to secondary education 1011 years of age To my mind they came across as older This did not spoil my enjoyment of the story though and I ended up simply reading them as the age my imagination took me toAll in all a great first book in what promises to be a good series Recommended reading I m looking forward to book two
