I saw this play when it was first produced and liked it I found it again this month looking for something to do with my students after we finished a Farce unit It s a fun play Lots of good jokes and interactions A bit overwritten in parts the characters sometimes break into long speeches that slow the pace and perhaps a bit TOO gentle and easy going it stays fun throughout and still makes good pointsWorth it for several strong female roles both comic and proudly aboriginal

I used this in a Street Humanities class non credit class for multibarriered students along the lines of the Clemente Courses and the students really enjoyed it I ve now read all four of the Blues uartet by DHT and although I did enjoy this one it s not as nuanced or well written as the others It s been interesting to see the author s writing style evolve throughout the plays What it is though is pretty funny and the slapstick went over well with the Street Humanities group It s very high interest fast paced and a great play to read in a class with varying literacy levels
