This isn t a story with a plot It introduces the idea that there are many kinds of planes and different planes are used for different reasons However there aren t any military planes which I can appreciate but we live near an air force base and an army base so we often see military planes helicopters jets and I would have liked to see one included in the book The art is perfect for helping kids learn from pictures as well as from text My 3 year old nephew loves to study each pageA pet peeve of mine All too many people don t use art for a learning aid In a well done science book there are often illustrations which are meant to be studied Ideally they should enhance the text by helping the reader visualize particular concepts Unfortunately there are all too many low uality texts particularly for grades K 12 that clutter pages for no purpose except to add color This clutter actually interferes with learning
